Work has begun on Narrowback and Lookout Mountain with the Shenandoah Valley Bicycle Coalition‘s second Recreational Trails Program Grant. The SVBC hired Trail Dynamics for work on this project. Work has been ongoing for nearly a week and will continue through the month of October. All work will stop in time for the start of rifle season in November. Please get out to the woods and check out these projects. Not only do we want your feedback but we also want you to thank Trail Dynamics for their hard work on our backyard trails.
This grant project will dramatically improve the trails in the North River District of the George Washington National Forest. Narrowback Mountain is the site of numerous SVBC trail work projects but never any of this magnitude. When finished, the SVBC will have built a trail through a recent timber sale with magnificent views and built a ridge top trail that will last for ages.
Most importantly, we need your help! The SVBC has been awarded a $125,000 grant but is responsible for matching twenty percent of the total funds. That means that we need to raise $20,000 and we can’t do it without your help. If you hike, bike, or ride a horse in the mountains around Harrisonburg then this project will improve your backyard playground. Please consider donating to help our cause.
