Help Shape the Future of Outdoor Recreation in Virginia

Virginia’s first-ever Director of Outdoor Recreation is coming to the Shenandoah Valley, and she wants to hear from you.

Join regional partners and us on Tuesday, November 10, for an evening public open house, part of the Commonwealth’s statewide Outdoor Recreation Listening Tour. Heather Barrar, Director of Outdoor Recreation, is gathering input from Virginians to shape the state’s first Outdoor Recreation Economy Strategy.

Whether you ride, hike, paddle, fish, run a trail crew, own an outfitter, or simply love getting outside, this is for you. Come share what’s working in the Valley, what’s missing, and what you want to see next for trails, parks, and public lands, from the Shenandoah Rail Trail and Seven Bends State Park to the Massanutten and George Washington National Forest trail networks.

When: Tuesday, November 10, 4:30pm – 6:30pm. Drop in anytime. No speech required.
Where: Shenandoah Bicycle Company in Downtown Harrisonburg, 135 S. Main Street (enter from the front or back). Park at the Water Street Parking Deck or the Harrisonburg municipal lot. Pulp, the café inside, will have food and drinks for sale.
Cost: Free and open to the public.
Can’t make it? Take the state’s Outdoor Recreation Listening Tour Survey by Wednesday, November 18, at naturalresources.virginia.gov/outdoor
