The Coalition’s mission is to ensure everyone in the Valley can comfortably and easily walk and bike as part of their daily life.
Inaugural Bicycle Coalition Fundraising Raffle
We’re kicking off an annual bicycle raffle to raise funds to deepen our work in the Valley. We will invite our community to participate in the raffle to increase their support and engagement in our movement.
The Shenandoah Valley Bicycle Coalition is seeking a generous bicycle brand (or business) as a partner for our inaugural (will be annual) Bike Raffle Fundraiser, our most significant fundraising activity this year, to support our mission of increasing access to trails and making biking and walking safer and more accessible in the Valley.
In return, the partner brand/business will be prominently featured in our Raffle marking materials and messaging. A specific frequency can be discussed if/as desired.
A Story of Impact
Along the way, we’ll share how we’re working to build better communities in the Valley through trails, biking, and walking. We’ll tell the stories of the people who make it possible, the trail projects on the horizon, and the work being done to ensure more people can bike and walk as part of their daily lives.
Our goal is to raise $20,000 from the raffle to fuel our work and programs in the Valley.
How will the Raffle be Promoted?
Promotion will include listing on our website, mentions in email newsletters, plenty of mentions through our social media channels, direct text messages to subscribers, printed materials at local businesses, and in-person events.
We also firmly support our independently owned-bicycle retailers. Promotion of the Raffle and delivery of the Grand Prize would be in close coordination with a designated local bike shop that is (ideally) a current brand dealer or a local bike company.
We seek a bike company invested in the importance of trails, public lands, and outdoor recreational opportunities that benefit our economies and communities.
Timeline for 2024 Raffle
- Mid-August 2024 – Finalize the brand and bicycle for raffle
- Early September 2024 – Launch the raffle and begin selling tickets
- End of October 2024 – Wrap up raffle and select a winner
*Timeline is negotiable with partner businesses.
2025 Opportunities
- We are also soliciting prizes for our planned 2025 raffle, which will take place in May-June 2025. If our 2024 timeline is unrealistic for your business, please consider supporting our 2025 raffle.
Bicycle Related Business Expectations
As the premiere brand/bike shop partner for the 2024 Coalition Bike Raffle, your company will agree to, at a minimum:
- Provide the Coalition with an in-kind bike donation to be the Grand Prize in the Bike Raffle.
- We aim for a complete bicycle package with a retail value of at least $5,000
- Ideally, the raffle winner can select a size option.
- Have the opportunity to host a demo event for the Coalition’s community.
- Promote the Raffle through your company’s social media and newsletters at least twice (2) throughout the raffle.
- Attend Coalition events as available and interested as a brand partner.
- Work with the designated local bike shop to coordinate delivery of the Grand Prize.
- Provide the Coalition with logos and digital assets of the bike, brand, and brand identity.
Proposal Guidelines
Proposals should include an acknowledgment that your brand can fulfill the minimum expectations above, any additional ways your company would help us achieve a successful Bike Raffle, and supporting rationale as to how and why our partnership would be mutually beneficial for both the Coalition and your company.
About the Shenandoah Valley Bicycle Coalition
The Shenandoah Valley Bicycle Coalition is a nonprofit organization formed in 2007 through the merger of the Shenandoah Mountain Bike Club and the Shenandoah Valley Bicycle Club.
