The Ride of Silence Happened and was a smashing success!
5/21/2015: Harrisonburg was WELL represented as well as some other locations (England) in last night’s Ride of Silence. There were 38 riders who participated in the 6 mile route through the city to highlight that bicycles too belong on our roads. Traffic was very respectful as were pedestrians and onlookers. Thanks to SVBC for sponsoring this event and we are looking forward to next year.
On May 20, 2015 at 7:00 PM, the Ride of Silence will begin in North America and roll across the globe. Cyclists will take to the roads in a silent procession to honor cyclists who have been killed or injured while cycling on public roadways. Although cyclists have a legal right to share the road with motorists, the motoring public often isn’t aware of these rights, and sometimes not aware of the cyclists themselves.
Harrisonburg’s Ride of Silence begins and ends at the University Commons on the EMU campus. Map from Court Square to EMU Commons
