Last night, the County Board of Supervisors considered whether to include all of Rockingham County in the regional bicycle-pedestrian plan currently under development.  And . . . the Supervisors  moved to postpone the vote until their next meeting in two weeks.

SO!  Mark your calendars, WE NEED YOU BACK at the County Office Building (20 E. Gay St, Harrisonburg) at 3 pm, Wednesday, March 13.  There is no guarantee we will get this thing passed, so, really, your presence is important.  Thank you!

And now . . . more reasons SVBC rules

1. After consideration of the the bike/ped funding measure was postponed, the Supervisors’ meeting had to take a two-minute break while the measure’s supporters filed out of the room and . . . the full room became empty.  There had been about 50 of us.  I don’t think the County Board of Supervisors ever sees crowds that size.  Thank you County advocates!  Thank you attendees!

2. When a friend at a national advocacy organization (National Center for Biking and Walking) read in Wednesday’s DNR article that: “The cost to the county [of expanding the bike-ped plan] would be about $19,000, but the Shenandoah Valley Bicycle Coalition has pledged $2,000 if supervisors approve the request,” he wrote: “Advocates providing local government a match if it pursues a bike/ped plan? Unheard of… and awesome because of that fact.”  Go us!!  We’re so good we do things heretofore UNHEARD OF.

3. Last night, after the 6 pm Supervisors’ meeting, there was a 7 pm 2013 trail work planning meeting, attended by about 15 people.  Awesome.  Thank you trail workers!  Interested in leading trail work this year?  Contact

4. We get media coverage:
