A great trail project is nearing completion on the North River Ranger District
A collaborative venture by the Shenandoah Valley Bicycle Coalition, Backcountry Horsemen, and the Potomac Applachian Trail Club to better connect the Lee Ranger District to the North River Ranger District in the George Washington National Forest with a non-motorized shared-use singletrack trail near Bergton, VA. Trail tools were transported in by pack saddle and towed behind bicycles to reach the remote work area. The new trail will be used as a key part of both the Great Eastern Trail and the Virginia Mountain Bike Trail.
This project has been ongoing for a few years now. Here are some great pictures from a past workday.
