The City of Harrisonburg Parks and Recreation Department has recently reactivated a grant that will fund enhancements and additions to the existing Rocktown Trail System at Hilandale park. This includes installing a water fountain at the pump track and expanding the existing track. The existing power line trail will be revamped and will become littered with berms and flowing rollers. As well, a green trail will be added on the south side of the power line trail and another blue trail will be added on the north side.
The Parks and Recreation Department hopes to use grant dollars to pay professionals to assist in the expansion of both the power line trail and the pump track. In addition, volunteer efforts will be crucial in the implementation of the grant and projected trail expansions. Weekly trail work updates are posted on the SVBC site. Please come out and lend a hand so that this wonderful amenity can continue to grow.
