Virginia Outdoor Recreation Listening Tour, Shenandoah Valley open house: November 10, 2026, 4:30 to 6:30 PM at Shenandoah Bicycle Co., 135 S. Main St., Harrisonburg

Your voice in the Shenandoah Valley’s outdoor future

Virginia is gathering ideas to shape the future of outdoor recreation across the Commonwealth, and the Shenandoah Valley open house is your chance to weigh in. What you share will shape Virginia’s first Outdoor Recreation Economy Strategy.

Whether you hike, bike, paddle, hunt, fish, camp, walk, or simply enjoy being outside, your perspective belongs in the conversation.

What you can weigh in on

  • Outdoor access: how easy it is to reach the places you love
  • Trails: where you walk, ride, and explore, and what’s missing
  • Recreation opportunities across the Valley
  • Communities and local economies: the role the outdoors plays where you live and work

How the open house works

  • Drop in anytime between 4:30 and 6:30 PM. Stay ten minutes or the full two hours.
  • Browse the presentation boards and add your ideas.
  • Bring a specific example: a trail, river access point, or project in your community that could use investment.
  • Free and open to the public. RSVPs help with planning.

Can’t make it? The state’s online Outdoor Recreation Survey asks the same questions featured at the open house. It’s open through November 18.
