Seeking Bids for Construction of parking lot.
The Shenandoah Valley Bicycle Coalition (SVBC) is seeking bids for construction of a parking lot that will be used for vehicle parking at a trail head in the North River Ranger District of the George Washington National Forest. The location of the parking lot is a few miles southwest of Briery Branch, Virginia.
There is a mandatory pre bid meeting and site visit tentatively scheduled for October 16th, 2015 at 8am. If you would like a bid package or more information please send an email to . The project funding is provided by the Federal Department of Highway Administration’s Recreational Trails Program via the Virginia Department of Conservation and Recreation. The Recreation Trails Program is funded by gas tax receipts from off-highway vehicles.

SVBC Seeks Bids For Construction Of Parking Lot
HARRISONBURG – The Shenandoah Valley Bicycle Coalition is seeking construction bids for a proposed vehicle parkinglot, according to a public notice.
The lot would be built at a trailhead of the Wolf Ridge Trail along Tillman Road in the North River Ranger District of George Washington National Forest, about four miles southwest of Briery Branch.
Trail users will no longer have to drive deep on Tillman Road to find parking and could cut their drive time by 15 to 20 minutes, according to Kyle Lawrence, president of the Shenandoah Valley Bike Coalition.”This will save wear and tear on the Forest Service dirt road, cut down on wear and tear on [trail users’] cars, and reduce traffic on the road,” Lawrence said.This part of the trail has few official parking facilities. The nearest lot is five miles down Tillman Road, or 21 miles from Harrisonburg. The lot also would allow better access to the northern areas of the forest, Lawrence said.The Federal Department of Highway Administration’s Recreational Trails Program will fund the project. Funds are provided from gas tax receipts of off-highway vehicles. By the end of 2016, SVBC aims to have secured and used more than $500,000 in RTP grants.A mandatory prebid meeting for those interested has been scheduled for Oct. 16.
