Many first-time volunteers express concerns about their lack of experience. However, this event is designed to be inclusive for all skill levels. Whether you’re a seasoned veteran or completely new to trail work, there’s a role for you. Experienced volunteers will be on hand to guide everyone through the day’s activities, ensuring that you feel supported and confident in your contributions.

This is more than a volunteer day! It will be a fun, family-friendly day in the woods with friends old and new! Bonus… you can earn your annual Western Slope trail pass volunteer hours in a single day!

This event celebrates our volunteers and reminds us of the collective effort involved in maintaining our trails. Every bit of work enhances the outdoor experience for everyone, from casual hikers to dedicated mountain bikers.

Prior trail experience is NOT necessary.

On-site training and instruction will allow volunteers to work safely, confidently, and effectively.

Dig Day Details

  • What: A celebration of our volunteers while we work on improving the Western Slope trails.
  • Where: Massanutten’s Western Slope near Keezletown
  • Where do I park? Parking will be in the main parking lot or the field near the pavilion.
  • When: Saturday, May 17, from 11 am to 3 pm
  • What to wear: Sturdy closed-toe shoes, long pants, gloves, and water!

We will get together at 11 am to go over a plan for the day and then break up into groups to work on project sites. We will have food ready at 3 pm for our post-event gathering and hangout.

We’ll bring the food and drinks!

RSVPs ARE REQUIRED. Please sign up so we can plan effectively. Once you’ve signed up, you will receive email notifications with details about the day, including where we will meet. We need a headcount for food/drink.

Be sure to dress appropriately for the day’s activities. Sturdy shoes will keep your feet safe while you navigate various terrain types, and long pants will protect against scratches and insect bites. Consider wearing layers to adapt to the changing weather throughout the day.

By registering, you’re not just reserving your spot; you’re also helping the organizers prepare adequately for the number of participants. This ensures that there’s enough food, drinks, and supplies for everyone, making for a smoother and more enjoyable event.
