The Harrisonburg-Rockingham Metropolitan Planning Organization (HRMPO) invites the public to attend an informational public open house on the 2040 Long Range Transportation Plan (LRTP) on Wednesday, December 7, 2016, from 4:00-6:00PM at the Rockingham County Government Center in the Community Development Department’s Community Room, 20 E. Gay Street, Harrisonburg, VA.

The LRTP is required of all MPOs to plan roadway, non-motorized and transit projects in the region for a 25-year period. It identifies existing traffic conditions, crash locations and travel patterns, anticipated challenges (congestion, new growth and development) and then presents a list of transportation improvements that can reasonably expect funding during the plan period.

Public input about transportation challenges and concerns is an extremely important part of the process. The open house will allow the public to review transportation performance information that covers population, demographics, employment, and proposed transportation projects. Feedback on safety improvements at intersections, expanding the network of bicycle and pedestrian facilities like sidewalks, bike lanes and trails, or additional transit service will be solicited, and MPO staff will be on hand to answer questions.hrmpo-lrtp-open-house-flyer_2016-page-001
