We are wrapping up our 2020 Massanutten Western Slope Trail Work Season with a BANG.

Sam Skidmore is currently operating a machine to build our latest trail “Red, White & Blue.” This will be the southern tier of our new lower Green Loop. We need YOUR help to finish this new build. You will be using hand tools for the finish work on the trail.

  • Finish work consists of backsloping, raking, clipping roots, and generally smoothing out the trail tread after the machine has finished its work.
  • Instruction will be provided by experienced SVBC crew leaders. Tools will be provided. Volunteers must wear sturdy shoes or boots, and bring their own gloves and water.
  • Additional water will be provided. We have multiple shifts available over the course of this 3-day event.

-When: Saturday mornings at 9 am – 12 pm weekly work parties continue until the end of October.

-Where is the Trail?: Through June and likely part of July, we will be working on the new Quarantine Trail. From Redbud Ridge, follow the Chimney trail (Trail #40) across the dirt road and up to the prologue trail (Trail #33) and look for the red tape blocking off the Quarantine Trail then walk up it until you find the work party. That would mean following intersections B to R to T.

-Where Should I Park?: Please park in the main Western Slope Parking Lot and walk or bike to the worksite.

-What to Bring: You, good working attire, and a friend! Your Bicycle Coalition will provide tools and beverages for post-trail work enjoyment.

Mon
Bicycle Coalition Monthly Social
Oct 12 @ 7:00 pm – 8:30 pm

Always on the Second Monday of the month.
Most folks arrive around 7:00 pm, order food, and/or drinks, hang out and chat. Between approximately 7:30 and 8 pm, we hold a half-hour informal meeting, where we talk about Bicycle Coalition and community events and anything on tap regarding bicycles in the area. After the meeting, people resume hanging out and chatting.

It’s really fun, a great way to find out what we’re up to, and, if you’d like, to get more involved. We’d love it if you joined us!
