Join SBC on Thursday November 1st for our fourth and last Fall Maintenance Clinic of the year. Tonight we will be covering repairs for common mechanicals that can happen during a ride, such as, flat changes and chain repairs. We’ll also be reviewing what has been covered this month, so come loaded with questions. Below are a few topics that will be covered:
-How to “boot” a tire
-How to fix/replace Derailleur Hanger
-Other tips & tricks!
Let the awesome Fall riding begin!
End of Season wrap up for the Western Slopes team so we can see what we accomplished and what we still need to tackle.
Draft agenda:
-Recap of 2018
-Action items for winter
-Ideas and goals for 2019?
A monthly ride in collaboration with the SVBC, Sentara RMH, and Bluestone Bike & Run.
We will start at Bluestone Bike & Run, 1570 South Main Street, Harrisonburg 22801, with bike and helmet checks, head over to the trail and let everyone loose! Ride the trail once or 10 times…it’s up to you! Then we’ll meet back at the shop for refreshments and to warm up. Parents are encouraged to ride with their children. If the weather is iffy, please check back for updates. Bundle up!

We have four (weekend) trail work days left in 2018 to work towards improving and maintaining trails in the George Washington National Forest.
Why: You recreate on trails in the National Forest and MANY of these trails see little to zero maintenance during the year. The Forest Service has virtually ZERO capacity for trail maintenance and relies on volunteer groups
Where: We will be working on the Road Hollow or Bridge Hollow Trails both of which are accessed from the “Mountain House” parking area off of US250. If you want to carpool you can meet at Mr. J’s Bagels on US 42 South in Harrisonburg for a ride out to the site.
When: 9 AM Meet at Mountain House off of US250 Click for Google Map
What will we do: Lots of benching or digging work is needed to reestablish the trail tread in places where it may not be in the best of shape.
What to bring: Sturdy closed-toe shoes (boots if you have them), gloves, long pants, long sleeves, snacks, and water.
