Sunday Funday Family Bike Ride
Sep 16 @ 4:00 pm – 5:00 pm

A monthly ride in collaboration with the SVBC, Sentara RMH, and Bluestone Bike & Run.
We will start at Bluestone Bike & Run, 1570 South Main Street, Harrisonburg 22801, with bike and helmet checks, head over to the trail and let everyone loose! Ride the trail once or 10 times…it’s up to you! Then we’ll meet back at the shop for refreshments and to warm up. Parents are encouraged to ride with their children. If the weather is iffy, please check back for updates. Bundle up!

Haircuts for Hillandale @ Hillandale Park
Sep 19 @ 9:00 am – 12:00 pm

The Women on Wheels (hailing from Harrisonburg and surrounding areas) have adopted the Rocktown Trails at Hillandale Park. Our adoption means we are working to keep the trails open for all users and the trails need your help.

A very rainy summer has left us more than our usual high grass sections and “problem” puddles. Significant trail grooming and mud puddle repairs are overdue.

Grab your gloves, pruners, loppers and limber up your strong hands as we will tackle some muddy sections, cut back the tall grass, fight invasive plant species and keep sight lines open (so you can see around corners). There is truly something for everyone at Hillandale!

Please consider joining us at one of the following mini trail work sessions:

Wed. Sept. 12: 3-6 p.m.
Wed. Sept. 19: 9-12 p.m.
Sat. Sept. 22: 9-12 p.m.
Tues. Oct. 2: 4-7 p.m.
Thurs. Oct. 11: 4-7 p.m.

We will meet at the bottom of the Power Line Trail. This is not exclusively for women-only, we’ll take help from anyone who wants to join us!

MTB Festival Planning Meeting
Sep 19 @ 7:00 pm – 8:30 pm

After the Doodle Poll, it looks like Wednesday, September 19th from 7-9pm is the time that will work the best for the most people. This will be the penultimate meeting, so please try and make it if you can; we’ll be getting most of our pre-festival tasks nailed down here. We’ll have one more meeting the week before the festival, but that will be mostly wrapping up merch for the raffle.

As with the previous meetings, I will send out an agenda and take minutes and post them.

You’ve heard the news! The Shenandoah Valley Bicycle Coalition recently hired our first-ever Executive Director. We want to not only celebrate this achievement but we also want you to come out to meet the Executive Director and the folks who serve on the Board of Directors for the Coalition.

We want to chat with you, get your ideas, perspective, and thoughts on where the organization has been and where you think it should be going. Got an idea for bicycling in our area? Come out and let us know.
